I grew up on Minnesota Nice, where if you can’t say something good, you just don’t say anything at all.  It’s a good idea, and works a lot more often than New Yorkers might think.  You see we tend to avoid conflict, so if we disagree with someone, we often just don’t say anything.  We aren’t agreeing with you when we’re silent, we’re being nice enough not to correct your dumb ass in front of your friends.  I’m sorry.  That wasn’t very Minnesota Nice, was it?
