The Vietnam-era anti-war riots and bombings had created a generation of protestors that became teachers and politicians when they came of age. They inherited control at the beginning of the Twenty-First Century, and brought all their experience to the war of their choosing. To “fundamentally transforming” America as one of their Presidents is quoted as saying. They decried their foes in this war as not just wrong, but as evil. Disagreement was met with charges of bigotry, sexism, racism, religiphobia, and any of a number of other sins. As you may guess, their fellow Americans did not appreciate this.
