We went to space a long time ago.<\/p>\n
For a long time, we thought we were alone.<\/p>\n
We had three great powers.\u00a0 The Russians.\u00a0 The Chinese.\u00a0 The Western Alliance.<\/p>\n
We spread out, colonized new systems.\u00a0 Sometimes we had a difference of opinion over who owned a colony world.<\/p>\n
One of those differences nearly sparked a war.\u00a0 It would have ended us all.\u00a0 So we signed the Lunar Treaty, vowing that we would never fight inside the Lunar Orbit.\u00a0 We would never fight over Earth herself.<\/p>\n
Outside the Lunar Orbit, we did some fighting, but it never got real bad.<\/p>\n
Then the Peloran made Contact.\u00a0 Everything changed when they came.\u00a0 We weren’t alone.\u00a0 And they helped us get better.\u00a0 They were real peaceful.<\/p>\n
They brought us medicines so we could live longer and better.\u00a0 A lot longer.\u00a0 Centuries longer.\u00a0 With their help, we uplifted animals into full human intelligence.\u00a0 I grew up in an America where talking dogs was real normal.<\/p>\n
Then the Shang came.\u00a0 They demanded we follow them.\u00a0 The Chinese did real quick.\u00a0 I’ve always wondered if the Shang came earlier and prepared them because they picked sides real quick.\u00a0 The Russians are a bit more complicated.\u00a0 They chose to side with the Shang, in a manner of speaking.\u00a0 I think they were just happy to let someone else do the fighting.\u00a0 We told the Shang to bugger off.\u00a0 Well, the British did anyways.\u00a0 Our words were a bit less printable.<\/p>\n
In the end, they attacked us.\u00a0 They hurt us real bad in fact.<\/p>\n
We fought back.\u00a0 The Peloran stood with us.\u00a0 The Aesiran came in on our side too.<\/p>\n
We drove the Shang away.\u00a0 We survived.<\/p>\n
Now, we live free.<\/p>\n
We go where we want.\u00a0 Mostly.\u00a0 The Chinese and Russians still aren’t friendly of course, so we steer clear of their space.<\/p>\n
But the Shang don’t show their faces in our space anymore.<\/p>\n
There are a lot of places to go out there.\u00a0 There’s lots of new people to meet wherever we go.<\/p>\n
So we travel and we meet new people.<\/p>\n
