Freedom is the right of all sentient beings.<\/p>\n
That was the defining ethos of Optimus Prime, one of the heroes and father figures in entertainment of my youth. An example of what men should be like. And the man that played him, that voiced him, played him both powerful and gentle. As a being who had such an ethos should be.<\/p>\n
And now he is dead. Unlike so many others who have died this week or this year, I met Peter Cullen. It was only for a few seconds, in an autograph line, but G4 Tech TV was filming the convention that day and the broadcast the video of me standing across the table from him as he held up the Pepsi Prime trailer I brought for him to sign. I will never forget the genuine joy and humor that caused him to raise that trailer up. He didn’t even know they had made a Prime with a Pepsi sticker on it. He signed that sticker and that figure is one of my prized possessions. And I still have that video saved on my computers. It is one file that always makes my primary backups.<\/p>\n
He brought Optimus Prime alive for generations of children, and he will be missed. This has been a heavy week for all of us.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
