The War hit us unprepared and unready, but we survived.\u00a0 We rebuilt.\u00a0 Third Fleet took us two years to assemble from the dribs and drabs of new construction, demothballed ships, or stray ships that got home.\u00a0 We launched from Earth ready to kick their asses to the other side of the galaxy.\u00a0 We smashed the Russians at Procyon, Mayer, and Zeta Reticuli.\u00a0 We crushed the Chinese at Cygni, Alsafi, and Eridani.\u00a0 We were feeling pretty ducky after that.\u00a0 Epsilon Reticuli was supposed to end The War once and for all.\u00a0 It didn\u2019t work.<\/p>\n
