It’s Thanksgiving Week in America, and I find myself considering the things I’m thankful for.
I’m thankful for family and friends. The people who choose to spend time with me. They are amazing.
I’m thankful for my health. I can walk and do things. I’m cleaning the house. Getting up and down off the floor and sorting things into keep, trash, and donate. That is amazing.
I’m thankful for my finances. I’m not rich. But I have a home. I have a car. I have a job that pays for all of that. That is amazing.
I’m thankful for life. I have it. I can enjoy it. And that is amazing.
I have been a long term fan of Babylon 5 since The Gathering first aired the original time way back in the day.
It was a truly impressive series, and the fact that they managed to make 4 scenes plus an epilogue season that was better than many say it was is amazing. Assuming you get past the horrible singing of the Telepath arc. The later half of that season had some of the best stories closing out the series. It was just the first bit of the season, where they were having to rebuild sets and get people back to work, that really did suffer a bit.
I have recently, after many years of searching, completed my collection of ALL Babylon 5 DVDs. The original series. All the movies. Crusade. Legend of the Rangers. Lost Tales. Even the new animated movie that just came out. The Road Home.
The movies are better than I thought they would be. I haven’t watched Crusade yet, but it is next on my list. I just watched Legend of the Rangers, and I do agree that the new starship fighting mechanic was… iffy. But short of that, compared with the stuff coming out of Hollywood lately? Dude. I’d take Legend of the Rangers any day.
Sometimes we forget how spoiled we were with good science fiction in the 1990s, 2000s, and the 2010s. Seriously. Yeah, some of the special effects back then are bit… ahem…. by today’s standards, but some of them are better than today’s standards. Disney TV shows, I’m looking at you.
I am happy to be watching Babylon 5 again after many years, and I look forward to seeing Crusade next. I hope I will still be looking forward to it after I start watching. But so far, I’ve been entertained. A telling statement when looking at entertainment media today. 🙂
And The Road Home was an amazing way of priming Babylon 5 up for the kind of reboot JMS has been talking about doing over the last couple years. It gives me hope that something more is coming in the future. I shall await it with great wishes. JMS has not disappointed me yet, and I look forward to give him another chance to entertain me.
Trump has been saying lately that we need to bring in thousands of people from foreign lands to train our people how to make things.
This is wrong. There may be some rightness around the edges, but the idea in general is wrong.
The reason for this is very simple. Who developed the things that need to be built? Who trained the foreign lands how to build them. In a great many cases, the answer is “We Did.”
Who many Americans have trained the foreign labor how to do the things we do and who then replaced us in the last 5, 10, 15, 20, or 25 years? And of those Americans that trained them, how many of them are still alive today? Right now? How many are retired? How many are still working in another position or field?
America created most of the jobs we need to bring back. The jobs our politicians helped to send away, leaving us in the production debt we are now in. We made them. We can make them again. Our young people may not know how to do it, but our experience people can train them. The people still alive now who trained other how to do it outside our country can train our people her inside our country how to do it again.
We don’t need millions of unskilled labor imported into America to do the jobs. We need people willing to hire Americans to do those jobs. And we need Americans willing to work those jobs. Of which there are for more than many would have us think. Including Trump.
Trump is wrong on this. And he must realize it. And he must realize how dangerous it is for all of us to act like it isn’t.

Jeffrey Epstein killed himself.
Jeffrey Epstein was a millionaire.
Jeffrey Epstein is a doctor.
Jeffrey Epstein is a teacher.
Jeffrey Epstein is a pedophile.
Jeffrey Epstein was banned from Mar-a-Lago.
Jeffrey Epstein talked to Democrats.
Jeffrey Epstein talked to Republicans.
Jeffrey Epstein donated to Republicans.
Jeffrey Epstein donated to Democrats.
Jeffrey Epstein owned a plane.
Jeffrey Epstein owned an island.
Jeffrey Epstein had millionaire parties for millionaires and royalty around the world who came to enjoy his young ladies. Or maybe girls, depending on which reports you believe.
There are many things that Jeffrey Epstein has done. Many jobs that Jeffrey Epstein has had. Many things that other people have done or not done with Jeffrey Epstein.
And both Democrats and Republicans will tell you all the things that Jeffrey Epstein did. Or all the people who did things with Jeffrey Epstein.
But an important thing to know is that not every Jeffrey Epstein is like every Jeffrey Epstein.
Jeffrey Epstein is in fact a very common name.
There are many men named Jeffrey Epstein.
Jeffrey Epstein the doctor is not Jeffrey Epstein the teacher is not Jeffrey Epstein the millionaire pedophile.
So when Democrats tell you that men named Jeffrey Epstein did things with Republicans, they are telling you the exact truth, while hoping you will assume what they want you to assume.
That is called lying by omission. Or misleading. Or a great many other things. While technically accurate, it is obviously a lie in every way that matters. It is dishonest.
But remember never to assume the sins of one Jeffrey Epstein are the sins of another Jeffrey Epstein. And not every person who interacted with a man named Jeffrey Epstein is an performing the great sins Jeffrey Epstein is known for. There are many men named Jeffrey Epstein, and not all of them do what some of them do. And not all who interact with them do what some do.
Just remember when people tell you about Jeffrey Epstein, to wonder what Jeffrey Epstein are they really talking about?
