I recently saw Super Mario and absolutely loved it. First, they went in with knowledge of the lore of the games and both switched it up and played it straight at the same time. There are numerous nods to the games, and I’m certain I didn’t catch them all. And yet it is also done as a movie that is outside the games. So stuff in the games often happens in the movie, but not always as you would expect. And other game aspects are given nods even if they don’t come out full in the movie. The people who did it loved the game and wanted to do a movie that played well with the games, and I love that. It was absolutely worth my time and I recommend everyone see it. If you have even a passing love for the games, I think you will like it.
I love good stories. I enjoy reading or watching good stories. But I get annoyed when I see continuity errors. Those are generally seen when part of a story says or shows something that disagrees with another part of the story. One example that bugs me is in Star Wars, Vader says that the plans were beamed to Princess Leia’s ship. That her ship intercepted them. In Rogue One we see the plans hand delivered to the ship while Vader chases them. Cool scene. AWESOME scene. But it is an error that bugs me. Just like Leia remembering her mother as kind but sad in Jedi. And then her mother dies before she can get to know her in Episode III. That bugs me. So I try very hard not to have that happen in my work. I’m sure I will fail, but I work hard not to.
The Weekly News has been amazing. Title 42 ended. A jury said Trump didn’t do something, but that he had to pay millions for daring to say he didn’t do it. A House Representative was arrested for mishandling campaign funds, while another investigation reported that nearly a dozen Bidens moved millions of dollars from foreign nations through over 20 shell companies. Tucker announced that he would start broadcasting a show on Twitter. And Trump went to a town hall debate with a CNN moderator. Can you guess which stories Big Media pushed? Well, first and foremost they are shocked and horrified that unpersons like Tucker and Trump are allowed to speak on a national network. Utterly Deplorable. The news is amazing this week.
A lady accused Trump of sexually assaulting her in a department store. The part of that story that I find the most unbelievable is the idea that Billionaire Trump was in a department store. Joking aside, he said he didn’t, she said he did, he said he didn’t, and a jury agreed that he didn’t. Today though, (yesterday as most of you read this) a jury declared that he was liable for defaming her when he said that he didn’t. So he is liable for saying he didn’t do something, when the court found him not guilty of doing it. We live in clown country…
One of the dangers of modern politics is the outright lies. As one example, the party of slavery, segregation, and racism has spent decades accusing the party that has fought slavery, segregation, and racism for nearly centuries of being racist, and a bevy of other sins, including being literally “Worse Than Hitler.” And Big Media never questions the accusations, but simply asks WHY they are so evil. Now most Americans recognize that they are being lied to, but there are still tens of millions that actually do believe the lies. And when that many people truly believe that their political opponents are literally “Worse Than Hitler,” it makes any attack against them justifiable, including killing them. This makes modern politics very dangerous.
