Rosalie and Rosalind did not apply to join Cowboy Squadron when we asked for new blood at Alpha Centauri. They didn’t talk to me about it at the time, but I agreed with their reasoning when they told me later. They’d grown up with me, and we’d done everything together most of those years. They needed to chart their own path. To prove to the brass that they really were as good as their tests said they were. That they didn’t need anyone to hold them up. Death can make people question everything. So they went out and they answered those questions for everyone. Ally and enemy alike.
The Battle of Fort Wichita opened up a world of possibilities for Rosalie and Rosalind. They made ace in one battle, which brought them to the notice of the news networks. Their looks and personality did the rest, and they quickly gained fame on Earth and beyond. The Space Force decided to use that fame and sent them on recruitment drives all throughout the Core Worlds. It’s amazing how quick young men will volunteer if a pretty young lady asks them to. Make them twins, and the Space Force was beating the volunteers off with sticks. Sometimes literally. So many volunteered that the Space Force academies couldn’t even train them all.
The military brass did not trust a girl that had been comatose for weeks and her dead sister/cyber/whatever. That was way too much strangeness for them to accept without a lot of salt throwing. But Rosalie and Rosalind did score off the charts, so the Space Force recruited them with the idea of using them around Earth while they found out if the girls would work out. That meant the girls got to fight at the Battle of Fort Wichita, where they racked up a real nice kill score against the Shang. They tore an entire Shang pincer attack apart, saving two full starfighter squadrons in the process. Then all of them hit the Shang with a pincer attack of their own. I’ve seen the gun camera footage. Those two girls were true artists.
I will be running another Alpha Strike game this Friday at 6PM at D6 in Rochester MN. This army will be there if you want to play the dirty, underhanded Liaos. 😉
We as a nation remembered the January 6 protest last week. Four protestors died that day, and we have seen one of those deaths on camera. The unarmed Air Force veteran Ashli Babbitt was part of a crowd that entered the Capitol and was going up a stairwell towards a line of three Capitol Police guarding a door into the inner workings of the building. This would setup one of the most famous scenes of the day, one that most of us have seen on the news due to the nature of the recording and the fact that it was quickly sold to two of the major networks.
John Sullivan is a self-proclaimed activist and journalist who took part in many BLM and antifa protests during 2020. After exhorting the crowd to enter the Capitol, he moved up the staircase to where he could cover the blocked door. He shouted at the police guarding it to get out of the way, and they stepped aside so the crowd could approach the door before walking down the stairs. A number of protestors tried to breach the unguarded door, and the window next to it. Ashli Babbitt began crawling through the shattered window when another Capitol Policeman on the other side of the door shot her in the neck and killed her. The Capitol Police walked back up the stairs to secure the scene in seconds and Ashli Babbitt’s body was carried out of the Capitol.
This year, Ashli Babbitt’s mother came to the Capitol to remember her daughter’s killing. She planned to place flowers as close as she could get to the Capitol, but it appears as if remembering those killed by the Capitol Police on or near Capitol grounds is frowned upon by the Capitol Police. They arrested Ashli Babbitt’s mother in front of cameras and took her to jail. She is according to the last report I have seen being charged with jaywalking. I would bid you all to remember Ashli Babbitt, her husband, her mother, and the rest of her family as they continue to live through the repercussions of her killing and everything around it.
