Another of my fun renders, it’s flying time for Jasmine and her broom, and they’re moving pretty quick by the looks of things.
I like to have fun with renders when the holidays come. So here is Jasmine getting ready to dish out justice on an evildoer in a particularly festive manner.
Yesterday’s post ended darker than I meant it to, talking about being on a road unwished. I know life and death come and go and all that jazz, but that does not mean I have to enjoy every step of it. Dad moved out and left mom in debt back before I entered High School, and its been me and mom against the world ever since. She started her new life with a literal negative net worth, and built herself up to owning a house of her own. I followed her example, and then bought her house and paid off the loans that remained on it, so she would never have another house payment in her life. Then she died. And now I am alone in a house that has never been empty. I do not like that. That’s why I am working to convert it into a gaming area for my friends to come to. And why I am demoing games again. Too much alone time is a road unwished that I will not follow. The road of life goes ever on, and now I search for a better fork to walk. That is both the dark and the light of it.
I finished painting another miniature army this weekend. That’s for fun and because it feels to make something pretty. I’ve also put more work into another story I’m writing, and have nailed the crosswork it will be built on. The theme if you will. It’s a short story from Caroline Murphy’s perspective. Now to fill in the scenes the story needs. Three in total, with one mostly done. So two scenes. That could take a two days or twenty depending on life. And in that life, I’ve finally cleared out enough of my mom’s bedroom to completely empty one of five shelves and tear it down. And one shelf in twenty in my house. Though a lot of my shelves are partially empty. Some things are being donated, some thrown away, and some boxed up for moving from my house to mom’s house. Which one day I’m certain I will start thinking of as my house. Even if I never wanted that. But life goes on, and either we go on with it or we don’t. I choose to go on, even if the road is unwished.
I watched Black Adam this weekend and came in with low expectations due to the reviews I’d seen. I should have remembered my old rule concerning the critics. If they hate it, I will probably like it. In this case, Black Adam came in like Elvis and entertained me like few movies have in the last few years. Is it perfect? No. But every character had a chance to shine, Doctor Fate seriously chewed up the scenery in a good way, and Black Adam had both moments of pure awesome and deep tragedy. Being entertained is all I ask of a movie, and Black Adam nailed the landing. I hope the actors had as much fun making the movie as it looked like they did in the finished product, and I certainly enjoyed watching it as much as the Aquaman and Spider Man films. If this is representative of the kind of finished films the new leadership of DC will be putting out in the future, a new challenger in the superhero films market has truly entered the ring. My verdict? Two lightnings bolts, way up.
