The Martian Affair

by Medron Pryde on October 27, 2020 at 12:01 am
Posted In: Diaries

We were alone in 2080. It was a new age of space exploration that would forever change humanity. Our probes traveled to every planet in the system, and manned missions blanketed the inner system. Our permanent colonies in Earth orbit, on Luna, and Mars pointed us to a new future in the stars.

Then an unknown objected entered Martian space, crashed through a Chinese satellite, and impacted on the Martian surface. Official reports called it a random piece of space junk. Conspiracy theorists claimed it was everything from a precursor to alien invasion to an embarrassing industrial accident.

Time marched on, and a legion of questions about the incident were never answered. Mars became a booming center of new industry, and eventually a comfortable home for humanity as we terraformed the surface. We forgot about the incident entirely as the years turned into decades and then centuries.

But now we know the truth, thanks to the recently declassified diaries of the man who watched that object arrive with his naked eyes. His name is Sergeant John Christensen, United States Marines Corps. This is his story.

Biden 2020

by Medron Pryde on October 26, 2020 at 12:01 am

“We have put together, I think, the most extensive and inclusive voter fraud organization in the history of American politics.”

I mean, he’s not lying. Yeah, I know they are going to say he meant something different, but why do you think he’s not campaigning again? He’s back in his house, resting, and waiting for the news media or his other surrogates to get him the win. While they try to keep him from saying something else stupid.

I’m not unbiased. Any of you who know me, know my politics rather well. But I watched the Democrat debates. There were one or two that could have courted the moderates amazingly well and pulled in an easy win. Ones that I actually liked. Instead, your party leaders pulled strings and got Biden in for another run.

The same Biden with family members who get million dollar jobs in specialties they’ve never had in countries that Biden is the big man to deal with from our country. And now we have e-mails that Biden doesn’t contest are real that lay that out clearly. That just like the Clinton Foundation, the Biden Family was a pay-to-play scheme where countries gave them money to get access. Why is this practice accepted? In business, people go to jail for this. In politics, they get pulled up to run for the next position.

Of all the choices the Democrats had, why did they pick the one who looks like he’s struggling to read the grocery list?

The Republic of Texas

Contact with the Peloran made the Republic of Texas Space Force’s primary heavy fighter obsolete overnight. But Texas had been building it for over a decade, and the tools to maintain them were expensive and omnipresent on Space Force installation. So they chose to upgrade the Fury with gravtech rather than build an entirely new design. The upgrade process was quicker and cheaper than designing from scratch, and it re-entered service a full year before the F-1 Starfighter completed building trials. But the F-1 had already received its designation as the first of the new generation of starfighters, and the United States Department of Defense was not interested in allowing a jumped-up refit to steal their well-earned thunder. That is why the first gravtech fighter deployed by an American State was the F-2 Star Fury. And Texas never let their counterparts forget it.

The Republic of Texas

The F-101 Fury-class heavy fighter was the preeminent Pre-Contact space fighter according to most military history enthusiasts, and the Republic of Texas Space Force certainly swore by it. It was the first of a new generation of space fighters that would have forever revolutionized fighter combat, and nearly every heavy fighter squadron in Texas service had adopted the fighter in the years before Contact. It also filled out several high-profile United States squadrons, including the famous Thunderbirds. It had better armor and a more powerful spinal laser than the competition, and the trio of missile packs could savage any enemy fighters. Then the Peloran made Contact and gave us gravitic propulsion technologies that made the Fury obsolete overnight. The United States chose to build an entirely new class of starfighter for the modern age. The Texas Space Force did not follow their example.

The Republic of Texas

The Republic of Texas Space Force’s primary mission before Contact was the defense of the permanent Texas colonies and bases in the Sol and Dallas star systems. They also defended Texas interests in other systems, but those smaller deployments only counted for a fraction of their total combat power. They racked up the majority of combat time Texas saw in those days, though. Space superiority fighters made up the majority of their deployed force, with a smaller number of attack craft filling out most of the remaining fleets. The rarest, but most powerful, elements were the bombers, even if a purely terrestrial force never would have recognized them. Rather than carry dumb bombs around in space, the bombers sported reinforced hard points that carried rockets powerful enough to crack even warship armor. With enough fighters and attack craft to clear the space around enemy warships, the bomber squadrons could sweep in and break them. The Texas Space Force proved that again and again in the various little turf wars that most nations did not admit happened out in the colonial regions in those days.
