Happy Independence Day

Today we celebrate the day Will Smith saved us all from aliens. And there was a really nice speech by the President as well.

More seriously, we celebrate the birth of our nation by blowing a piece of it up. And hopefully not a piece of ourselves.

Okay. Fine. Not serious enough.

Today we celebrate. Maybe set off some fireworks. Maybe grill some meat. Maybe sit back with a good drink and watch a game. However we celebrate, it is the nation that has protected our freedom to do all of this that we celebrate. Most of us have grown up with a peace and security few outside our nation enjoy. We should remember that.

We should celebrate that.
