The cream of the imperial fleet was defeated, but the empire that built it was still powerful. And even with the “time travelers” firmly on the kingdom’s side, they didn’t have enough power to break the empire. To end the threat it posed both to them and all the other realms. It was going to take some major adjustments to the simulation to change the status quo, and Tai had promised the king that she would make his people safe. She could have just dropped a virtual meteor on the imperial capital and written out everything and everybody there, but she wanted to fix things as part of the story, instead of just editing ones and zeros. Tai asked if I wanted to be a Big Damn Hero. Well… duh. Of course I did. I was ALWAYS in for THAT kind of ride.
