Four years ago, life was normal. A rather impressively strong flue had run its course through my town of around 100k people. We have an international airport and a major world medical center, so we tend to get our fair share of bugs. This one was heavier than most, but nothing us good Minnesotans can’t handle. Now there were rumors of some superbug coming out of China. A cruise ship was hit. Nothing major yet, but there was a possibility it could hit us. The job market was humming along at something like 1% unemployment or less in some areas. An economic boom rocked America and we were finally a net exporter of oil once more. Lunch buffets and salad bars where everywhere, and who would eat in when you could eat out? I liked the world four years ago.
