Hurricane Milton has come and gone and Florida is rebuilding. Again. Meanwhile the Appalachians are still smashed into smithereens. Not a surprise really. Florida gets hit by a hurricane and it’s Tuesday. The Appalachians aren’t really what we would consider hurricane alley. So when a hurricane stops on top of them and drowns them, they are going to be a while recovering. It doesn’t help that FEMA says they are out of money and is mostly going in to tell other people what to do. So two weeks after Hurricane Helene pounded the snot out of Appalachia, private rescue, relief, and supply convoys continue flowing into the region in search of survivors who haven’t been contacted yet. The spirit of the American people in the face of catastrophe gives me hope for the human race.
