Trump has six months to make major changes that will affect the midterms. The midterms happen one year from now, and given the realities of campaign season, that means he has six months.

Now give the Democrats their due. They did an excellent job in this election. They shut down the government, told their faithful that the Republicans shut it down, and timed it perfectly so SNAP benefits ran out the weekend before the vote. They wanted to galvanize their electorate to come out and vote and they did it amazingly well. The Democrat base was truly pissed with the Republicans and came out swinging. Blue and purple States had a hard blue push.

Red States with elections are a different story. They largely remained red in the vote, so it wasn’t a total wash for the Republicans by any means. It was a rough one though.

Two things have come out of the instant polls that are of interest. The first is that Trump lost a lot of votes from those who want a better economy. It’s the economy stupid as an old politico once said. And the economy is rough. Trump has done good on the international stage, but he HAS to do something to reduce costs and boost the economy in the next six months or he is going to lose serious votes in the midterms. Even Republican faithful people are drawing a line in the dirt on this one, and the Independents are not happy at all. Trump MUST get costs down and the economy humming in the next six months, or at least show genuine progress on the matter, or he will lose a lot of votes.

The other matter is immigration. An interesting set of facts to come out of New York City is that people born in NYC did not vote for the Communist. People who had lived in NYC for over 10 years didn’t vote for the Communist. People who lived in it less than 10 years DID vote for him. And an amazing three of every four people who have lived in NYC less than 5 years voted for the Communist. That is the margin of victory right there. People who have lived in NYC less than 5 years.

Now based on demographic trends as we know them, citizens living in NYC have been leaving in droves over the last 5 years. The only major population to see a major increase in population over the last 5 years is the illegal aliens that the Biden administration spent four years shoveling in as fast as they could. And we know, based on things said on the ground in NYC, that illegal aliens did in fact vote for the Communist. This is why the Democrats spent so much time and money moving illegal aliens into so many cities all over America. They wanted them to vote for them. We know that many blue States craft their laws and procedures to make it easy for illegal aliens to vote. We know based on their own testimony on camera that their laws do allow it. And we know, based on what illegal aliens say, it happened.

Trump needs to remove more illegal aliens so they can’t vote in the midterms. And he needs some way of making certain the ones he can’t deport in time can’t vote. Both of those are very tall orders.

Everything is a tall order. But those are two items he simply MUST deal with, or at least show major progress dealing with, in the next six months. So Republicans can campaign on making progress in them. So the electorate can see major progress. Trump must not only do good things. He must also appear to do good things, in time for the appearance to make the news and filter down to those who intend to vote. And he must use that appearance of good things happening to bolster the people who voted for him in 2024 to come out and vote for his party in 2026.

Because the simply fact is that he Democrats have promised to Impeach Trump again if they take Congress back. And every historical indication is that Trump will lose the Congress. The party in power always loses a lot of seats in the House. It is a matter of history. Trump must move against the flow of history to keep that from happening. And to do that, he must show genuine progress on the economy and the deportation of illegal aliens. Both. If he doesn’t, both the moderates that joined him for economic reasons and the conservatives who joined him for border control reasons will fail to show up in 2026. And Trump will be Impeached and the Democrats will fight him even harder than they are fighting him now for the next two years of his Presidency.

Six months to make progress. Will he do it? I don’t know. But he has to try.
