Game Demos
The BattleTech convention near me continues. KSAGG VI. KSAGG started as a gathering of friends to play Alpha Strike, after years of looking at a tournament rules package sparked by people who used to play on the X-Wing tournament scene and loved it. It was held in a garage and we filled it out. It was awesome. Over the last few years, via the WolfNet Podcast and a general web presence that has been large, KSAGG moved to local game stores, until we outgrew even the largest of them. This year we are in a convention hotel, with convention hotel game space and supporting spaces all around it.
And I am so happy to see the growth. The BattleTech fans getting together to have fun and “Don’t be an ass.”
Now I bring a demo kit to every con I go to because I run demos. It’s what I’ve always enjoyed doing. Showing new people how to play a game they’ve never played. And my demo kit includes multiple games. Classic, Alpha Strike, and the new BattleTech Encounters. Also a new space combat game in the works outside the BattleTech IP that I hope to show off if I can find the space.
KSAGG is really busy this year, and almost every table is in use throughout the day. Very impressive. I was able to carve out a small space yesterday to show off BattleTech Encounters, and people came over to check it out. Some played it. Some asked about it. Many people are interested in it, and many people decided they were going to buy it after talking to me and playing with me.
It was a good day of showing off a game that even most BattleTech players have been unable to get any real time experience with. And I really do love showing off a new game to new players.
