Jack of Harts

I love Root Beer. It is one of my favorite drinks.

And yet, I love Star Trek’s take on it.

Vile. Bubbly. Cloying. Happy. Just like the Federation. And if you drink enough of it, you begin to like it. Insidious. Just like the Federation.

It is a funny and humorous look at the Federation from the outside, and one of the things I like about Star Trek. Star Trek showed humanity and our allies at our best, and then gave us problems to solve. Even as we were bubbly and cloying. And others saw us as vile and insidious because surely nobody could ACTUALLY be that bubbly and cloying. But we were. And somehow they grew to like that.

And what is just like that in real life?

Root Beer. 🙂
