Abraham Lincoln is coming home.

She’s been through Hell. Nearly a year on station, launching flights and attacks.

She’s covered in rust and algae is growing up her sides.

She’s had shortages of water and food and probably even the ice cream machine has broken down more than once.

And her airgroup is on deck, ready to launch.
Her catapults are ready to send them into the air.
Her crew are standing on the deck as they sail into port.

The old girl has earned her scars on this deployment, doing something few ships do these days. Or any days. Nearly 300 days on the ocean without a port call. Damn, the old girl did good. Now its time to get her crew home so they can rest. They’ve done well for us. Let’s get her home so we can give her a good scrubbing. She deserves the attention.

And all of them deserve our respect.

Job well done.
