Jack of Harts

After decades of Democratic first party rule in the United States, Free State politicians reformed the Republican Party.  Their driving mission was to eradicate Slavery in every State and Territory, and Free Staters from almost every major party flocked to the Republican banner in the North.  In the South, the Democrats maintained unfettered power, and as the election of 1860 came to a head, the divisions in our nation hardened to a literal breaking point.
