Today is Labor Day.
I hope you all enjoy it.
I got off work, and am going to sleep so I can go back to work again.
Three cheers for labor day.
We’re coming up on Labor Day.
A day meant to celebrate those who labor. Some people go out to do parades or celebrations.
Usually those who don’t labor or who can afford to take the day off for some fun.
Me? I’m in that middle class that has fought and scrabbled and struggled to buy a home and make a home and I can’t afford to take labor day off. So I’ll be laboring on labor day.
Just like every labor day as long as I remember. So if you’re the type to be out having on the town when you go out, maybe remember the people who actually keep this world working. Or not. Your choice. You do you.
I’ll be here doing the things that keep things going. I’ll be laboring away.
So there was a trial over a woman who sent her husband out of the house on long errands meant to keep him away and then proceeded to kill all three of her children.
She never said she didn’t do it.
And eleven of twelve jury members did not want to convict her of it. And women cheered her as she came to court. Women across the internet shouted that they stood for her. You’d think it was a case of post-birth abortion they were celebrating.
Me… I stand with the children she murdered. I’m happy one member of the jury stood strong and said she was guilty.
I would hope if someone killed the children of my family, at least one member of the jury would be able to make the same stand when judging their killer.
It sucks that eleven members of the jury forced a mistrial, but sometimes thems the breaks of living in a world that teaches killing babies is a sacred right of all women.
Pubshare is a service that many companies use to publish books. Many of the anthologies I am in use pubshare because it shares the profits with everybody and does so in a very public manner so everyone involved knows. It is a very good service.
The owner and main operator of the service just went into surgery and plans to be out of action for the next couple weeks. I would like to ask you all to pray for his quick recovery. I’m sure he would not turn them down.
Abraham Lincoln is coming home.
She’s been through Hell. Nearly a year on station, launching flights and attacks.
She’s covered in rust and algae is growing up her sides.
She’s had shortages of water and food and probably even the ice cream machine has broken down more than once.
And her airgroup is on deck, ready to launch.
Her catapults are ready to send them into the air.
Her crew are standing on the deck as they sail into port.
The old girl has earned her scars on this deployment, doing something few ships do these days. Or any days. Nearly 300 days on the ocean without a port call. Damn, the old girl did good. Now its time to get her crew home so they can rest. They’ve done well for us. Let’s get her home so we can give her a good scrubbing. She deserves the attention.
And all of them deserve our respect.
Job well done.
