Happy Mothers Day.
Talk to your mother if she’s still alive.
I did. I wish I still could.
You will regret it later if you don’t.

The Indians call it The Great Sea. We call it the Great Lake Superior in 1853. Mishipeshu guards it and does not appreciate the rising traffic of ships heading out to steal the copper from its domain. It has been sinking ships and the death toll is rising. Captain William Carter, hunter of otherworldly beings and threats to mankind, arrived in time to see “Mishipeshu Rising” to attack the steamboat Independence. His mission, to stop the killing by whatever means are necessary.
“Mishipeshu Rising” and many other fine stories about deep sea beasts are available now in the “Tentacles and Tides” anthology by Opal Kingdom Press.
This weekend is a holiday weekend. Mothers Day in particular. That of course means it is a perfect time for the government to disclose information it must legally disclose, but doesn’t want people to know. So expect the government to release something this weekend that we probably won’t like but that the news won’t harp on because this weekend is all about our amazing Mothers. If you want to know what the government doesn’t want you to know, monitor what releases they make today. You might be surprised what you find out.
I went to the emergency room because I was having trouble swallowing. Nearly choking. Just on the edge. It is something that has happened before, rarely. Now twice in the same week. They did an X-ray and decided it wasn’t something to do with my chest that X-ray at least can see. After spending a night there, they sent me home with extreme suggestion that I get follow up. At the follow up with my care team, I was scheduled to get a procedure where they stick a tube down my throat to see what is going on. Today at 8:15AM. I went home, went to sleep to get prepare to go in the next day. After 3PM, they rescheduled to a couple weeks from now and did not inform me. I checked in for the procedure on Thursday and found out I wasn’t doing anything today. And there was nothing they could do. They did not have the capacity to see me, because the procedure takes putting me to sleep to do it, and they don’t have enough rooms to do it. I got people to cover me at work, I got people to accompany me, and nothing got done because they rescheduled me. And now I’m stuck hoping I don’t choke again, with no idea of why I’m having this issue.
Swallowing is something we take for granted. Until swallowing doesn’t work right. I spent the night in the ER because something is interfering with my swallowing process and causing me to choke while doing common things like drinking water or swallowing pills. And because I live near the Mayo Clinic, they are moving me through the process of getting testing very quickly. And this is why I live here.
