To those who say that criticizing the government is unAmerican, I’m going to have to let George Washington address this issue with all due consideration. Because we decided back in 1776 that criticizing the government is as American as Apple Pie. And what’s UNAmerican? Telling people they can’t.
Hurricane Milton has arrived and it was a direct hit. But it seems to have lost strength during the final approach. And Florida was prepared, so while it has done a lot of damage and repairs will take a while, the appropriate steps appear to have been taken. Meanwhile, Joe is calling his political opponents unAmerican for daring to criticize the Federal response to the previous hurricane, and Kamala is picking a fight with the governor of Florida because he won’t take time out of preparing Florida for this hit and help her re-election campaign.
FEMA has arrived in the Hurricane Helene disaster zone are reporting that they are organizing relief missions and passing out supplies. And they have vans stations so people can apply for government aid. Reports from the ground say they aren’t present in the outer hinterlands of western North Carolina. That is an all private volunteer organization area as far as local reports go. They report FEMA is blocking roads and ordering people to stop performing unapproved rescue efforts. Private rescue continues though, and now they report finding people out there who survived the storm and the floods, but committed suicide after days of waiting for rescue. There are tens of thousands of people out there, displaced or dead, many with towns and homes that no longer exist, and they are mad. They are asking how they are going to be able to vote in the next month. And that’s a good question. How ARE they going to vote when their houses and towns and polling stations were wiped off the map? And another hurricane is rolling in…
We are still trying to find the survivors of Hurricane Helene and now Hurricane Miller is aiming at Florida. Now Florida knows how to deal with these things. People living in the mountains don’t, which is one of the reasons Helene is so devastating. Those narrow mountain valleys are simply not built to take the kind of deluge they got hit with, and entire towns have been washed away up there. I would not be surprised if the final death toll goes past a thousand. There are way too many missing up there for that to be a good thing at all. And another hurricane is coming…
One year ago, Inbar Lieberman responded to a Hamas terrorist attack by calling her security to stand and shot the bad guys a lot. They won, forcing the terrorists, the international journalists, and the general looters from Gaza to go elsewhere.
I have to remember everything else that happened that day, but this is what I want to celebrate from that day. In all that chaos and death, there were people defending civilians and civilization, and I will celebrate that.
