This week began in an unprecedented manner, with a President of the United States on trial facing criminal charges. He is charged with paying hush money nearly a decade ago to a porn star claiming an affair with him and not filing the appropriate paperwork to declare it such. Misfiling business paperwork is a misdemeanor offense with a two-year statute of limitations in New York State. The local prosecutor is claiming that he did this while committing another crime, while not saying what that crime is, and that the duel nature of the crime allows him to trump the statute of limitations and charge it as 30-some criminal acts. That requires Trump to attend the case in person, so he cannot campaign for President across America. Coincidence? I think not.
