Australia
There are many powerful stories to come out of the shooting in Australia. For every cowardly cop who ducked behind cars and hid when the shooting started, there were real brave men and women who stood up and did what they could to save lives. Most of them were shot. Some died. The elderly couple who saw what the father and son were about to do and tried to stop them at the beginning. They died in each other’s arms. The Christian man who wrestled a gun out of one of their hands, but then didn’t know what to do with the weapon once he had it. A woman who shielded a random child with her own body because the animals were trying to shoot the kid. There were so many heroic stories out of the shooting. So many brave men and women.
I can’t help but wonder how many lives would have been saved if those brave men and women had been trained on how to use guns and had their own? How quickly would the entire situation have been over if they were allowed to defend themselves?
Of course the liberal politicians and the media are licking their chops at the idea of using this to disarm MORE people so this kind of thing can happen more often and kill more people. Not a surprise. It’s the stand they always make. But those disgusting jackals aren’t the future I look to.
It is the heroes who braved the bullets to save lives who give me hope for the future. And every day we learn about more of them. Many people are alive today because other brave people fought to keep them that way. And that is an amazing thing.
