There is an old tale about a scorpion. In Russia it is known as the Scorpion and the Frog, and comes from Oriental sources. And there is a similar Persian tale named the Scorpion and the Turtle. The scorpion in the tale asks another animal to help it across a river or lake, and promises not to sting it because of course it would not be helpful to it. And the other animal trusts it and helps it across the body of water, only to be stung halfway across. And when asked why, the scorpion simply responds, “I am sorry, but I couldn’t help myself. It’s my character.” An interesting difference in the tales is that the frog dies, while the turtle’s armor shell allows it to survive the experience. But the scorpion is much the same between them and other similar stories.

The scorpion’s nature is to sting. It is his character. One should always expect a scorpion to sting you, and one should never be surprised when they do.

Now how does that apply today? The news cycle over the last day or two in America has been filled with news about a Vanity Fair article about the President and his people. The things they say about the administration and the people are not nice. And they picked some of the least flattering photos possible for many. Now the administration says that things were taken out of context. That they are, using the parlance of the day, misinformation. Purposefully using nuggets of truth to tell lies. And while I understand that point of view, I must ask them why?

Why did they agree to the interview at all? The Vanity Fair of today has been utterly taken over by the Democrat Party. I’m not surprised that Vanity Fair would deal dishonestly with us. Its nature today is to attack Republicans or anyone to the right of Mao Ze Dung. Its nature is to destroy anyone who stands against their agenda. Its nature is that of a scorpion. It will sting you. Why would you even deal with them when you should know what they will do? I don’t blame Vanity Fair for lying to us. I blame the administration for being stupid enough to believe they wouldn’t. I blame the administration for trusting them to act against their nature.

Never be surprised when a scorpion lives up to their nature. Expect it, and you will not be disappointed.
