Elizabeth had quietly taken up residence in most of the central data networks long before the English Blackout of 2048. She was able to reboot most of them within minutes, enabling communications throughout the British Isles. The primary power grids took far longer. It is impossible to overestimate the effect the blackout had on the British economy.
