Sound of Freedom is a movie that premiered this weekend and is about a fight against the child kidnapping and prostitution rings. It was finished in 2018 through Fox Studios, but the release was taken off the timeline after Disney purchased the studio. The filmers got the rights back, and found another studio to release the film, and it came out on the 4th of July. It is a hard movie, but it has massive ratings on both the critic and the audience side. Almost everybody says it is a good movie. I have not yet seen the whole movie, but I have seen many clips of it, and I intend to see it this weekend. I have not seen it so do not recommend it, but I would love to see a great many people watch it simply because I would like to poke Disney in the eye.
My mom died a year ago. I have donated a great many things of hers in the year since, but thrown away very little. Every time I felt like doing it, I felt like I was throwing a piece of her away, which is hard. I am working beyond that now. Old worn out clothes are old worn out clothes. Printed sheets of medical treatments and drug subscriptions are not going to do her any good anymore. Hair conditioner that I am never going to use will be of no good to me. They say you should make no big decisions in the year following the death of a loved one. It has been a year. It is trash day and I am cleaning the house.
I know it is fashionable these days for people to deride America, and some took the Fourth of July as an opportunity to do so. I will respond with this. Are we perfect? No. But the world is better today because of us. American States were the first political bodies in the world to end slavery. The United States was the first to ban the slave trade from importing slaves. We conducted anti-slavery patrols of the oceans with our greatest enemy, the Empire of Britain, for half a century. And we only pulled those patrols back to fight a war to free all the slaves in America. Then we renegotiated our treaties with sovereign nations to get them to free their slaves. We ended slavery in our corner of the world. That is one reason I celebrate America.
For all you fine people (and dogs) who have just gone through the scary time, know that your yearly trials are coming to an end. The fireworks will now go away for another year. Peace is returning to the land…
It’s our birthday! It’s our birthday! Our forefathers signed the Declaration of Independence the better part of two and a half centuries ago, touching off a series of events that would make the world a better place. So go forth and celebrate the birthday of our nation by blowing a piece of it up. Enjoy. 🙂
