Rebuke Evil

by Medron Pryde on September 16, 2025 at 12:01 am

Some people say now is the time for unity. To find a way to work together. That we speak to each other about finding a better solution. But the problem with that idea is that we’ve been trying to do that. We have been talking. Charlie Kirk was one of the foremost people talking. And they killed him because he said things they hated. And after he was shot dead, they went online to celebrate and cheer that he had been shot for daring to say things they hated. Telling all of us that they will cheer just as much after they shoot us as well.

I grew up in various Pentecostal and Evangelical churches that taught me to expect this. I’m not surprised that they hate us because I grew up reading the Bible where it says they will hate us. And while I wasn’t taught a lot of Catholic Doctrine, I do remember being taught about the Seven Deadly Sins and told giving in to them corrupted us. Made us worse people. That part of growing up straight and upright men and women of honor meant we had to fight them, not embrace them. Not celebrate them.

Lust. Gluttony. Greed. Sloth. Wrath. Envy. Pride

These are sins, and we should rebuke them. But Leftist Democrats have told us for years to embrace them. They want us addicted to porn and sex. America today eats more and is fatter than ever before, but they tell us that beauty comes in every size. They say that people should be able to steal things without being punished. They teach hatred of people based on the color of their skin. They teach that people should be envious of the things other people have and just take them. And I’m sure I’ve seen the word pride thrown around. It’s on the tip of my tongue… Whatever it is, the religious right has largely been taught to stand against these things most of our lives, which is why we generally stand opposed to them.

The people in the center and center-left haven’t, and often thing we’re a bit odd for that. But what they’ve seen in the last week has shocked most of them as well. They see the celebrations and the cheering at a man’s assassination and they are in many ways more appalled than we are. We expected it, so it didn’t surprise us. They are friends with people who are saying it. They work with people who say it. And they’re aghast. Because even those not looking for it recognize evil when it jumps up and down and screams in their faces.

I assert that there can be no unity with people who celebrate assassination and say people deserve to be shot because they say things these people hate. Sooner or later, everyone gets shot that way.

The only choices we really have are to embrace evil and let it command us, or rebuke evil and fight it. I say the only choice that will give our children a better life than the one we had is to rebuke the evil and make it clear that we are rebuking it and will not let it dominate us.

So I rebuke it. I call it evil and I rebuke evil.

Moving Forward

Seeing the reaction on the Left to last week’s assassination of Charlie Kirk makes moving forward an interesting challenge.

So many people in trusted positions rejoiced and celebrated the assassination and many of them are just being fired. And they are broadcasting both their celebrations and their dismay at being fired. Teachers. Health Care workers. Security officials. Government employees. Okay, so not as many people trust them anymore. But people from all over the work force are reporting that coworkers are giddy about the assassination and that makes them worried about the people they work with.

The problem is that when people see other people celebrating the killing of another person, it really does change how people look at them. Now most people understand that self-defense is a good reason to kill, but Charlie talked. He went onto college campuses with other kids his age and talked to them about difficult topics. Most people know that talking isn’t violence.

But today people are seeing where it leads when they say that “words are violence.” And they see actual violence perpetrated against words. And they see Leftists celebrating that violence because Charlie Kirk said things they don’t like. And these same people consider how many of their own thoughts are things that the Leftists have said are violence in the past. And that is when people see themselves in Charlie Kirk. When they realize that the Leftists really do want them dead and will celebrate when they die.

Knowing that a significant portion of a major political party wants them dead is a major gut check for most people. They tend to start looking at the whole party differently. And if reports are accurate, many many people are not liking what they are seeing. Many people are terrified by what they see.

Some people say we need to talk about it. But Charlie was talking. And Leftists are telling us that is why he was killed.

It is difficult to move forward and talk to people when those same people are saying that if you say things they don’t like they will rejoice and celebrate when you are killed for it.

The Veiled Guardians

I finished another short story this weekend. Clocking in at a beefy 9.4k words, it is for an open call asking for between 6k and 10k size stories. So it is inside the range basket. They were asking for manuscript format I have never used before, so that took a bit of study and research to adopt for them. But I hit the open call. Now to sit back and wait and find out if they want it for their antho.

Whatever the case, another Captain William Carter story is in the basket. Bill returns home to New Haven in 1839, after having spent time fighting for the Texians in their bid for independence, and finds out that there are gargoyles hiding in New Haven. Gargoyles, bad tidings from the north, and an old Indian face he has not seen since he was young standing next to the Gothic Church on the New Haven Green.

What happens next is, of course, the rest of the story that I hope you will all get to read soon.

This is How Liberty Dies. With Thunderous Applause.

by Medron Pryde on September 13, 2025 at 3:16 am

It was an edgy phrase in a movie twenty years ago. “This is how liberty dies. With thunderous applause.” But it was just entertainment, right? Just another Hollywood director slyly protesting Republicans in his movie. Comparing them to Hitler and Fascists and all the ists that Hollywood accused Republicans of being. But it wasn’t really important, was it? That was just a Hollywood thing. They are crazy. The rest of America was smart enough not to believe the idiot. Right?

Well, it’s twenty years later now, and Democrat leadership, the Main Stream Media, Hollywood, and even the government when it is under their control have spent the last twenty years calling anyone to the right of the Stalin a Nazi. A fascist. Literally Hitler. Racists. Sexists. All the ists. Dozens of Republican legislators have been shot over those two decades. One was beaten half to death in his own yard. Assassination aimed at the Supreme Court. The President has been shot. Normal everyday Republicans have been shot dead on the streets while walking out of Republican rallies by protestors who decided they wanted to see their political opponents dead. Because they believed what they were told. And who wouldn’t shoot Hitler if you had a chance? And how many cops have been shot dead while sitting in their police cars?

It was only a matter of time before a Republican in politics that we know by name would died of something that wasn’t an easily explained random mugging, car accident, or sudden onset cancer that killed them in a few weeks. It was only a matter of time before we saw a major Republican die on camera, live, where all of us could see. That was almost Trump last year. He turned his head. The bullet hit his ear instead of blowing his head apart on live camera. The assassin still killed a firefighter. And Democrats applauded. They said the firefighter deserved it because he was a dirty fascist who went to a literally Hitler rally. And Democrats went online and shamed the dead shooter for not being a better shot and killing Trump like he should have. But nobody knew the guy’s name. He was just the random fascist firefighter who deserved it, so the applause was muted. The real target had been missed.

This week was different. A big-name political Republican that almost everybody has at least heard of over the last decade was shot on nearly live TV. The footage of his neck being hit and blood spurting out hit the internet in between seconds and minutes. Everyone who wanted to see, and a whole hell of a lot of people who never wanted to, got to see Charlie Kirk die on camera in living, red, pumping color. I have not seen it. That was my choice. I’ve talked to people you have, and the look of shock and horror in their eyes is enough to tell me that I don’t want to look at it right now. I’ve seen the reaction of the youth of this nation to seeing one of their leading voices die before their eyes on screens in their hands. And I have watched video of one of the kids in the crowd jumping and dancing with joy at the fact that Charlie Kirk had died a few feet in front of him. And I’ve watched Democrats across the nation cheer the fact that he is dead. Laugh at it. The applause has been… thunderous across social media and the main stream news. How many people have you seen say “he deserved it.” “He said things.” “He brought it on himself.” “Well, if he’d only kept his mouth shut.” And they’re the ones that are just trying to be a little quiet. The loud ones are not so quiet and are a lot more direct.

In a recent poll, fifty-six percent of self-described “left of center” people said that killing Trump could be justified. Fifteen percent said it was COMPLETELY justified. Only forty-four percent said it was not justified at all. Only fifty percent said killing Musk could be justified. Only eleven percent said it was completely justified for him. But here’s the big problem. There are between two hundred and three hundred MILLION Americans. Based on simple math, there are at least one hundred million “left of center” people. If half of them think it could be okay to kill the political opposition, we are talking about fifty MILLION people in America who could justify it to themselves. Over ten million who already believe it is completely justified to kill the political opposition. After that, they’re just debating names. A few more support killing Trump than support killing Musk. But that’s just a matter of degrees.

No poll I know of asked if killing Charlie Kirk could be justified. So I can’t tell you the exact percentage that do think it could be. But it is some percentage of fifty million people who think it COULD be justified. And there are a lot out there right now who are justifying it. “He deserved it.” “He said things.” “He brought it on himself.” “Well, if he’d only kept his mouth shut.” “He shouldn’t have worn that dress to that part of town.” It’s victim blaming. It’s justification. And their applause is thunderous.

This is how liberty dies. This truly is a Turning Point. Will the last vestiges of our Republic die in the next few years, to be replaced by an all powerful Empire? Or will we be able to resist the darker urges and take a better path? Will we be able to reform the Republic and make it healthy again? I don’t know.

But there are millions of people out there perfectly willing to justify killing us in defense of their Democracy. They will proclaim that they have save Democracy even as they take the route to Empire, as they kill all the evil other guys who stand against them. And they speak with thunderous applause at the death of evil Count Doo…. ahem… Charlie Kirk… Charlie Kirk. Their applause at the death of Charlie Kirk is… thunderous.

This is how liberty dies. With thunderous applause.

If we let it.

Turning Points

by Medron Pryde on September 12, 2025 at 12:01 am
Posted In: Diaries

Turning Points come in a lot of ways.

Watching the young combust at one of the leading voices of their generation getting shot has been interesting.

And the reactions of all the people who knew him is equally amazing.

Many are playing clips of him talking to people on college campuses. Others are calling for justice. Many for vengeance. Others are praying for Charlie Kirk’s family. Some are praying for the people who caused this.

And of course there are the Leftist Democrats celebrating his death. Saying he deserved it.

And then there are those who always come out and say we need to discuss this. That we need a dialogue to move forward.

Well, here’s the thing. Charlie Kirk was the one asking for a dialogue. He was the one who went into the lion’s den day after day and talked with people.

He went in with a smile and a laugh and a joyful attitude and he told people of his love for Jesus. He called on young men to stop binging on computer games. To stop watching porn. To stop letting it and so many other things of this world dominate our lives. To build something for the next generation that will allow them to live in a better world than we grew up in. He went into the areas that are most dangerous to people like us. To the colleges where people are taught that people like us are evil. And where they cheer when people like us die. He walked in day after day and talked to people.

And now he’s dead. And some people are cheering. And that’s just… That’s evil.

We have come to a Turning Point. And I have come to a Turning Point as well.

I can’t even really be angry with them. We’re all humans.

We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.

I am no exception to that sentence. And I feel that conviction in my soul.

But I swear this. I will dedicate what life I have to standing against the evil that kills people like this. That shoots or stabs people like this. I don’t know what I can do to stop it. I’ve certainly spoken against it for years. I’ve highlighted it. I’ve told people about it. I’ve spoken when others did not. Maybe that is what I will continue to do. Maybe God will call me to something else.

I prayed to God today in a way I have not in a long time. I mean, I pray every day. I listen to the still small voice. I always have. But today I looked at everything around us. I looked at what was in me. And I asked God for the kind of mercy that none of us really deserve. Not as a trade. Not as a bargaining chip. No promise to do better. I can’t be better without Him. None of us can be. We’re all broken.

I didn’t plead with God to protect me or any of us from the wages of what we have done. Or what we’ve allowed to have done. I prayed and I accepted His Judgement for that. I did pray that he free of us of that. Because the wages of the sins that we have allowed are terrible. But I accept whatever judgement comes for me and all of us.

I only asked that He help us find a way through to a better world for our children.

That is my Turning Point.
