Jack of Harts

The Jack of Harts universe is built on the fact that nobody ever fully agrees with what other people do. The Albion wanted to improve the human race through gengineering newer and better abilities into them. The Ennead believed that changing the human genome was an affront to nature. The more unnatural abilities the Albion grafted onto the human form, the more stridently the Ennead called for an end to their abominable practices. The Albion did not listen and the Ennead elected to stop them by force. Their war killed both races, numerous others, and erased hundreds of star systems from the very fabric of the galaxy. And the rest of the galaxy breathed a sigh of relief when the surviving soldier races went home rather than continue the bloodletting.
