Oz the Great and Grimm
Oz the Great and Grimm came fully formed in my mind with the title. I wasn’t planning on writing a story for the Glitched Grimm anthology because I don’t like any of the classic fairy tales enough to twist them into odd ways. To turn them on their heads so to speak. Then one day I realized that Oz is a fairy tale and it has been public domain for a very long time now. Witness some of the interesting Oz stories that have come out lately. And I grew up reading Oz. All of the Baum books. Oz is my jam. And on that day the idea of Oz the Great and Grimm hit me like a lightning bolt. Now the story I wrote was no where near as dark and horrific as what the editor of Glitched Grimm was looking for, so it probably got removed in the first round of edits. But this was a story I wanted to write because I wanted to write it. I love Oz, the Oz stories are one of the sets of stories that made me look at the world in wonder to begin with, and having a chance to play in that world was like going home to my childhood. This was just a fun story to write and I love it. I hope you love it to.
