The Trump trial in New York City is winding down now, with the judge and the lawyers debating over whether or not Trump’s attorneys will be allowed to quote the law in their defense if reports are accurate. And at the same time, former FBI director Comey is showing up on many networks saying how important this election is. He says he’s afraid that if Trump wins, he will corrupt the various agencies and use them to persecute his political enemies. Can you imagine living in that kind of Third World nation? Where political parties use the law to put their political foes on trial, deny them due process, and put them in jail? That surely would be horrible. Listen to Comey. This election is very important.
Ding Dong, another tyrant is gone. I join the Iranian people in celebration of the “Butcher of Tehran” going to meet his maker. And I’m certain the patron saint of helicopters, Pinochet, is looking on with pride at his favorite vehicle taking down another threat to humanity. Heck, I’m betting even Boeing is wondering if it would improve their stock in worldwide opinion if they said that they provided maintenance for the ride. In the end, he has made this world better, by leaving it behind, and I absolutely will celebrate that.
I have written stories about Space Cowboys and More in my literal decades of writing. But in a world where electronic format has become the norm, there is a special joy in getting a book in dead tree format. My first novel is on top left, and the other three are anthologies where I share the limelight with other authors. The two below are available for purchase right now from the fine folks at Raconteur, while you can pick up my novel whenever you wish on Amazon or other ebook retailers.
I am listening to The Space Race from audible right now. It is voiced by Kate Mulgrew of Star Trek fame and was released in 2019. It is an amazing look into both the history and the future of the space race, and an amazing look at the world we looked forward to before the 2020 lockdowns. I want that world back.
The New England Federation Starfleet boasts starship commanders from every race, creed, sex, or family, and they are very proud of that. The flag ranks are far more selective though. Nearly every Commodore or Admiral in Starfleet has a Great Family name behind them. This is no accident. The Great Families have poured a great deal of resources into making Starfleet the most advanced and most powerful fleet in America and the Western Alliance, and they make certain it looks out for their interests in return. Nearly every battleship or carrier, every fleet, and every starbase is commanded by a member of the Great Families. And the competition between Great Families to fill those positions is intense. Any failure can result in a new opportunity for someone else.
